Asuncion!!! I’m so excited 🙂 I will be working with a large cooperativa doing small business consulting! People in Paraguay mostly use cooperativas instead of banks because the minimum investment to open a bank account here is $10,000 US dollars. The average person living in Paraguay makes roughly only $4,500 US dollars per year. Some other projects I will be working on include teaching an entrepreneurship class designed by Peace Corps called “Build Your Dreams,” and teaching leadership courses. I am so excited that you will be in the urban area! I think your chances for networking will be much greater. Will you be getting bus money to get to work? Where will you work? Hey Dad! I will be living in the same area where I will work, but I’m not sure yet if I will need to take a bus or if it will be walkable. I leave tomorrow to do my future site visit for 5 days, so I will be finding out a lot more info soon. My main project will be at the cooperativa. I am required to live with a host family for the first 3 months. There was a previous Peace Corps Volunteer that I am replacing, and I will be living with the same family that she did. The mom of my new host family works at the cooperativa, so that will be very convenient! I will be meeting my main contact person and my new host family tomorrow, so looking forward to that!
