And my site placement is………

Asuncion!!!  I’m so excited 🙂  I will be working with a large cooperativa doing small business consulting!  People in Paraguay mostly use cooperativas instead of banks because the minimum investment to open a bank account here is $10,000 US dollars.  The average person living in Paraguay makes roughly only $4,500 US dollars per year.  Some other projects I will be working on include teaching an entrepreneurship class designed by Peace Corps called “Build Your Dreams,” and teaching leadership courses.  I’m really, really excited and will send more details later!!!

Matzo Ball Soup in Paraguay!

Yes, it’s true… they have matzo ball soup in Paraguay, but they call it bori bori!  I had it for the first time for lunch today and it was delicious!  My host mom cooked it with vegetables and beef.  The matzo balls were really small, but tasty.

I am still sick and am now taking antibiotics.  I have a sinus infection.  The rest of Paraguay also seems to be sick.  In fact even though winter break for schools here is supposed to end this week, the government extended the school break for another whole week because of the influenza breakout!

I’m going to Asuncion tomorrow for an event called The Expo.  It sounds similar to a fair, where Paraguayan’s and other nearby countries can have a display of the products they sell.

6 more days until I find out my future site for 2 years… and I’m still feeling very nervous.  I hope it’s a good one!!!
